Do wireless Home Alarms have monitoring like a hard wired system?

This is the most common question with regards to non-hard wired alarm systems. Rest assured your wireless home alarm system can be integrated with many monitoring companies. The cost is the same as if you were using a standard security system. Yearly monitoring charges vary depending on the company you choose, but typically run between $20-$35 per month once initial pricing incentives expire.

Who makes Wireless Alarms?

General Electric (GE) makes some of the most well known and best quality alarm systems. The GE Simon XT and GE Simon 3 Wireless Alarm Systems are two of the most popular and reliable on the market today. They are backed by solid warranties and offer an extensive customer and technical support team.

The standard GE wireless home security system can run from Free to $400, depending on the monitoring agreement accompanying the purchase. Typical agreements are initially signed for 2-3 years.  Pricing also depends on how many motion detectors, keypads, and accessories you need for your home.

ADT and Guardian are two other well known manufacturers of Wireless Alarms Systems.

Tips To Prevent False Alarms. 1. Have your system installed by a reputable security company. 2. If you install a system yourself, purchase quality equipment from a reputable supplier and follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. 3. Make sure everyone using the system is thoroughly trained. Each month, have each person practice turning the system on and off-it’s easy to forget how if they use the system infrequently. 4. If your system is monitored, post the phone number of the central station near the telephone so you can quickly call and cancel an accidental alarm. 6. Test your system thoroughly each month. (Call your central monitoring station first and tell them you wish to put your system on “test” for an hour, two hours, etc. This way, they won’t contact police if they receive a signal from your alarm panel). After testing, call the station again to confirm they received your alarm’s signal. 7. Follow your security company’s or equipment supplier’s recommendations for maintenance of your system. If you ever notice something isn’t working properly, get it fixed immediately
